TSUMUGI: There are a lot of deer here.

IORI: Such round and cute eyes…

TAMAKI: Iorin, you like deer?

IORI: …...Cough. Even though they’re used to humans, please be careful around them. They might steal your food if you’re not paying attention!

TAMAKI: Seriously?! I’ll protect my snacks if it's the last thing I do!

SOUGO: Tamaki-kun’s bag
is full of snacks.

NAGI: There are so many roaming deer in Nara. Humans and deer living in coexistence is beautiful!

IORI: It seems that ever since long ago, Nara has worshiped deer as the gods’ messengers.

TSUMUGI
: They seem to be selling deer crackers, so why don’t we buy some? Deer will flock to us if we do.

NAGI: OK, I will buy some!

TAMAKI: Me too~. I wanna know how it tastes.

IORI: Tastes…? I hope I’m wrong, but is Yotsuba-san planning on eating the deer crackers?

SOUGO: I know we’re talking about Tamaki-kun, but I think he’s smarter than that...

TAMAKI: I bought them~.

NAGI: Come on. The crackers are here.

TAMAKI: Whoa! A lot of them came over! AHH! It tried to eat the stack instead of the one I held out to it!

NAGI: I am scared of my own charisma, for both deer and ladies hopelessly fall in love with me.

TAMAKI: They’re stealing crackers from me! Sou-chan, I’m scared! Help me!!

IORI: The deer have changed direction and are moving towards Rokuya-san and Yotsuba-san.

SOUGO: Tamaki-kun, calm down! You’re tall so just hold the stack of crackers above your head!

TAMAKI: Like this?

SOUGO: Yes, and just hold out the amount you want to give them!

TAMAKI: ….Ooooh. They’re eating a bunch.

NAGI: OH! Before they eat, they even bow their heads! As expected of Japanese deer. They have the heart of the Japanese people.

SOUGO: Apparently they bow their heads because they’re giving out a sign that they want food. Then tourists give them food because they’re happy at the gesture.

TSUMUGI
: They’re such polite deer.

IORI: They are trained deer. They probably learned it from others after living near the city for so long.

TAMAKI: ….Pfft, pfftt.

TSUMUGI
: Tamaki-san, what’s wrong?!

TAMAKI: It tastes bad! The taste is weird and the texture’s crumbly.

IORI: Yotsuba-san… You really ate it…!

TAMAKI: Because the deer were eating it like it was really delicious...

SOUGO: I don’t think it’s dangerous to humans, but it probably isn’t tasty. I heard it’s delicious if you mix cat food with mayonnaise, though.

NAGI: Sougo! Don’t tell me you’ve crossed that line!

SOUGO: No, of course I haven’t. I’ve eaten a lot of bean sprouts before, but cat food is expensive.

TAMAKI: So are you saying that you’d eat it if it was cheap…

*~*~*~*~*

where do I even start with this lol this event is...wild.

This is the Nara prefecture event, which most likely takes place in
Nara Park. It's famous for the deer that live there and is a very popular tourist attraction. I might actually want to go back to revise this translation sometime later as it's been a while since I've translated this. I do want to go back into the game to check the event again and see if I made any mistakes. But for now here you go. ^^

My last update was in June 2019 which was a while ago. I'll do my best to keep updating my blog again because I actually do enjoy doing these translations and would like to do it for other series as well (not just IDOLiSH7!). My goal right now is to get the translations that I have on my twitter lycheeflowers and my drafts up on this blog within the next few weeks.

sakuraclover: (kinako)
TSUMUGI: We’ve arrived! Here’s the Tokyo Sorairo Tower.

YUKI
: Now that I’m seeing it up close, it really is high.

MOMO
: It is the tallest tower in Tokyo, after all! Have Iori and Nagi been here before?

IORI
: No. I see it occasionally but this is my first time going inside.

NAGI
: I also have not been inside, but I protected the Tokyo Sorairo Tower from exploding before.

IORI
: That story again? You always bring it up whenever we see the Tokyo Sorairo Tower.

MOMO
: I like that Northmeir jokes are so exaggerated! If Nagi really did protect Tokyo, then he’s a superhero!

NAGI
: OH… But it’s the truth…

*~*~*~*~*

MOMO
: That was fun~! The glass floor was so cool! I knew it was thick glass but my heart was pounding the whole time!

NAGI
: Mister Momo’s legs were shaking, as if you were a newborn baby deer.

MOMO
: But I was OK because Yuki helped me stand. Yuki’s a real gentleman!

YUKI
: I can’t leave you alone when you’re scared..

IORI
: Yuki-san, you weren’t scared? You were always looking outside.

YUKI
: Yeah. I was enjoying the scenery outside.

MOMO
: He even had the leisure to enjoy the scenery…! What a dependable darling! I’ve fallen in love all over again!

IORI
: It’s the Suspension Bridge Effect. (1) The anxiety and excitement caused by heights are similar to when you’re in love, so it’s easier to feel positive emotions.

NAGI
: So it means that danger and love are the same! (2)

IORI
: It seems like it’s easier to fall in love with your heartbeat is raised. Apparently it’s beneficial to exercise in this condition as well.

MOMO
: I do lessons together with Yuki! And we’re always together during concerts!

YUKI
: So that means it was inevitable that Momo and I have fallen in love.

MOMO
: Yuki...!

YUKI
: ...Momo!

NAGI
: OH, the married couple act has started...

TSUMUGI
: But if we follow that theory, this would mean the IDOLiSH7 members would be subject to it as well…

IORI
: We won’t be subject to it. We’re a group of males. But thinking about it, I believe the Tokyo Sorairo Tower is perfect for dates. The suspension bridge effect can be applied for the glass floor, and there are a lot of fashionable cafes and apparel shops on the bottom floor.

NAGI
: ………! …...Manager. Why don’t we go back up to the observation deck and dance on the glass floor together?

TSUMUGI
: Eh? Umm…

IORI
: I think it’s meaningless to activate the suspension bridge effect forcefully though...

*~*~*~*~*

(1) Upon research, the suspension bridge effect is tied into the psychology term "misattribution of arousal", which basically works in the same way as Iori had described it. It's actually pretty interesting.

(2) I HAD A HARD TIME TRYING TO TRANSLATE THIS. In the game, Nagi used ドキドキ (doki doki) which is the onomatopoeia for your heart pounding. He said "dangerous doki doki is the same as love doki doki" but obviously this ain't gonna make sense in English without it sounding a bit too complicated (which then would end up ruining the simplicity of his statement lol). So I narrowed it down to danger = love, which is pretty much what they just talked about for the suspension bridge effect.

*~*~*~*~*

This is the Tokyo prefecture event, which is actually the first one players see in-game (Tokyo will always be your starting point before you get free reign to choose.) The Tokyo Tower is pretty famous so I don't really see a need to link to an article about it. Also I'm assuming we all know about the infamous terrorist incident that Nagi is talking about LOL I burst out laughing the first time I read this event. (For those who don't know, you should either read the side stories or watch IDOLiSH7 Vibrato!)

I've been having fun getting back to translating these events so I'm planning on getting out more posts here and there while I'm on a roll ^^

Homework

Jun. 20th, 2019 08:27 pm
sakuraclover: (kinako)

IORI: Yotsuba-san, are you progressing through the homework from school?

TAMAKI: What homework?

IORI: We can’t attend classes because of the tour, so didn’t they give you assignments to complete in the meantime?

TAMAKI: Ohh, I think they did.

IORI: I expected you’d forget...

TAMAKI: Yeah.

IORI: Please do it.

TAMAKI: Ehh.

IORI: Don’t ‘ehh’ me! You might not be able to proceed to the next grade. Yotsuba-san, is it fine with you if you become my underclassman?

TAMAKI: Iorin as my upperclassman… I think that’s fine?

IORI: *sighs* ...You realize your little sister will be very sad? Do you want her to think she has an unreliable older brother?

TAMAKI: Ugh… Iorin, that’s unfair.

IORI: It’s not. I’ll look over it with you, so please take out your homework.

TAMAKI: ...I don’t know where it is.

IORI: My goodness, you… We’ll start after dinner so in that timespan, please find it!

*~*~*~*~*

IORI: You finally found your homework. You had all that time, so why didn’t you search for it...

TAMAKI: Ehh, but when I searched it wasn’t there.

Iori: Jeez… It was because you had all of your belongings thrown around the place. We took a long time to find it. Why did it take 3 hours to find your homework…

TAMAKI: Because Iorin kept getting mad at every single thing…

IORI: That’s not it! It was because your belongings were full of snacks! Are you a candy fairy or something?!

TAMAKI: A candy fairy… Does that mean I can eat candy whenever I want? If that’s true, I wanna be one!

IORI: No, you won’t! Yotsuba-san, you will stay as a member of IDOLiSH7. ...OK. Let’s stop talking about pointless things and finish this quickly.

TAMAKI: Ehhhhh? I’m tired from searching around, so let’s do it tomorrow.

IORI: WHAT?! Of course not! You haven’t even done the first question yet!

TAMAKI: Fine. Then let me copy your homework.

IORI: I don’t get what you meant by “fine”. Open up your notebook and textbook now.

TAMAKI: Aww. Iorin, you’re like Sou-chan.

IORI: Did you say something?

TAMAKI: Nothing.

*~*~*~*~*

IORI: Yotsuba-san, is there something you don’t understand in your homework? If I can answer it, I’ll teach you.

Tamaki: Ummmmm. Everything?

IORI: Everything?! ...Let’s do it in order.

TAMAKI: I tried to do my chemistry homework, but it’s all in English.

IORI: I don’t know what you’re talking about, but show it to me anyway.

TAMAKI: Here.

IORI: They’re chemical formulas. H is hydrogen, and O is oxygen. Water is a compound of hydrogen and oxygen.

TAMAKI: Iorin, I don’t understand what you’re saying. Alien language?

IORI: It’s in Japanese! I recommend you first remember the element symbols.

TAMAKI: Ehh. I don’t like how studying for school is just memorizing stuff.

IORI: Don’t say you don’t like it. You remember choreography and singing so quickly… Right. The periodic table has a mnemonic phrase associated with it, so why don’t you remember that? Sailor, Liebe, my boat-- (1)

TAMAKI: What’s Liebe?

IORI: Liebe means “lover” in German--

TAMAKI: See, it’s in English.

IORI: ..It’s German.

*~*~*~*~*

(1) You can see the phrase down here:

水兵 (H, He) リーベ (Li, Be)

(B, C)(N, O)(F, Ne)

名前が (Na, Mg) ある (Al) シップス (Si, P, S)

クラーク (Cl, Ar, K) (Ca)

(2) Someone on Twitter mentioned that liebe actually means "lover" in German, but in the game Iori mentioned it was "lover". I edited it to be more accurate since I'm sure Iori meant well www

*~*~*~*~*

Gotta love the high school duo HAHA のヮの good luck Tamaki... good luck Iori...

The mnemonic phrase seems to be better understood if you can at least read a bit of Japanese or hear it irl. Or if you're like me and a fan of iDOLM@STER SideM, you probably know of this already from a certain song LOL.

This is part of a series of small events you can unlock here and there while setting the idols' schedules. Apparently they're called Backstage Stories! (Also thank god they have titles of their own so I can give them proper ones lol) This one features Tamaki and Iori. The two of them have several events with other characters, too; Tamaki and Ryuu have some that are hilarious in its own way, and Iori has several with Ten and Riku that are a bit more serious. More will be incoming once I unlock and try to translate them all~ (๑•̀ㅂ•́)و✧

GAKU: Tsumugi! Good work.

TSUMUGI: Gaku-san, good work today.

GAKU: How was today’s concert?

TSUMUGI: It was very cool! The audience was very excited also.

GAKU: Thanks. It’s thanks to all of the staff’s hard work.

TSUMUGI: Tomorrow is your day off, so please rest as much as you want.

GAKU: Yeah. About that, are you free tomorrow night?

TSUMUGI: Do you want to talk about the live performance and stage costumes? In that case, I can call for Anesagi-san!

GAKU: No, I want to invite you--

TEN: You’re not gonna say something like “Let’s go see the Ten Million Dollar Night View”, right?

GAKU: Whoa?! Ten, where did you come from?

TEN: I was right next to you all this time. But you didn’t notice and instead started flirting during our party. You need to choose a better place and time.

GAKU: Wha-- It’s not like that!

TEN: I’m not wrong, right? If you went together, you’d be the type of person to say “you’re prettier than the night sky”.

GAKU: …………

TSUMUGI: Fufu, Gaku-san wouldn’t say that to someone like me. But that wonderful phrase sounds just like Gaku-san.

GAKU: Then, tomorrow do you want to come with me--

TEN: Gaku, you’re coming with me and the Izumi brothers to our sweets tour, right?

GAKU: …...Huh? I didn’t hear anything like that.

TEN: Isn’t that right? Izumi Mitsuki.

MITSUKI: Hmm? What? I don’t know what’s going on, but do you wanna come with us to our sweets tour tomorrow?

IORI: I don’t mind. If we have more people, it’d be easier to share and try multiple dishes.

RIKU: If Ten-nii’s going, I wanna go too!

MITSUKI: Manager, do you want to come with us? It’d be kinda lonely with only us dudes.

TSUMUGI: I have work to do so if it’s OK, I will arrive partway through. Ah, but Gaku-san, weren’t you saying something about tomorrow night…?

TEN: It’s OK. It’s better if we go see the Ten Million Dollar Night View all together. Right, Gaku? You’ll be seeing the night view together, so you’ll still have an occasion to remember, right?

GAKU: This brat…!

TSUMUGI: What’s wrong?

GAKU: No, nothing…

TSUMUGI: I’m looking forward to the cake and night view tomorrow!

GAKU: ...Yeah.

*~*~*~*~*

REST IN PIECES GAKU LOL...

This seemed to be the most popular of the translations that I had done so far and put on my gaming Twitter. All the GakuTsumu fans were probably either super amused or super mad at Ten for getting in the way (or maybe both which is also valid) but it definitely sounds like something he would do. I assume they all had fun in the end though which is better than nothing! Maybe next time Gaku can get his long-awaited date? のヮの

This is the Hyogo prefecture event from the PS Vita game IDOLiSH7 Twelve Fantasia! There are special events for all prefectures. For this particular one, the Ten Million Dollar Night View is apparently a popular dating spot in Kobe, Hyogo on Mount Maya. I like how all prefecture events have little things from irl landmarks and specialties. Not only that, but for international fans like me I enjoy learning about them also. Some of them are strangely informative and while it may not be as amusing as say this event, it's still interesting to read. (づ。◕‿‿◕。)づ

Posts will have character tags also if you wanna find the events your best boy has appeared in! :3c Thank you for reading!
